Finley Spring Sports Rosters Packed
Nearly half of the entire J. Taylor Finley Middle School enrollment is participating in the eight-team spring sports program there. Team rosters are filled with 308 students, 63 more than last year when 245 seventh and eighth graders were in the fold.
The five boys' team's rosters are packed with 170 athletes. The three girls' teams have 138 students in their ranks. Last spring there were 141 boys and 104 girls participating.
With 79 members, the Finley girls' track and field team is the largest of any squad, followed by baseball (39 athletes), girls' lacrosse (37), boys' lacrosse-7 and boys' track and field (35 each), boys' lacrosse-8 (33), boys' tennis (28) and softball (22).
Through the years, Finley teams and after school clubs have historically seen extremely high participation rates. Teachers and administrators encourage students to dive into all of the after-school program offerings.
