New Polymer Clay Class in the Summer Arts Program

As registration continues for the OOMPAH summer arts program in the Huntington School District, students and their parents are considering from among the time-honored courses that have proved popular through the years and several new classes that are provoking excitement.

One of the new classes is a polymer clay class for students entering grades four through nine. The course will run in the 9:00 – 9:50 and 10:00 – 10:50 a.m. time slots, Monday through Friday during the summer program, which runs from June 27 through July 22.

"Have fun with this really cool clay that can be sculpted, carved, stamped, textured and used to create many different kinds of fund and useful objects," according to the summer arts program guide. "Learn the secrets of building multi-colored polymer 'canes' to produce amazing checkerboard, spiral and geometric patterns for your unique creations."

Students entering grades 4-9 are eligible for the summer arts program and can register for up to four courses. Registration for classes is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. Students from surrounding school districts are also welcome, provided they supply their own instrument for music related classes.

There is a $95 fee for each summer course. It includes all supplies and an OOMPAH (Organization of Music Parents of Huntington) t-shirt. A $45 registration fee will also be assessed to cover course materials. There is a family discount of $50 for each additional child registering for four classes.

Detailed course descriptions and registration information is available on the Huntington School District's website at www.hufsd.edu. Click on the Arts tab and then on the link for summer programs
