Stuff the Bus Food Drive on March 26

The Huntington High School student government sees a need and has responded with the "Stuff the Bus" campaign, which aims to restock the empty shelves of local food banks. The group is clearly on a mission and doesn't plan on falling short.
Students are collecting canned vegetables, canned soups, canned beans, spaghetti sauce, canned tuna, packaged macaroni and cheese, rice, pasta, cereal, jars of peanut butter, jars of jelly, bath soap, toothpaste and hot chocolate mix, and similar items.
Instead of merely piling up the items in a room, boxing them and calling someone to come and pick-up the goods, student government officers and faculty advisors Anthony Troffa and Fred Bisogno arranged for Huntington Coach Corp. to donate the use of a bus, which will be "stuffed" and used to deliver the bounty.
Organizers are asking community members to bring items to the Huntington High School gym on Saturday, March 26 between 9 a.m. – 12 noon and students "stuff the bus." All donations will go to Huntington community food banks and pantries. "We hope to get a lot of people up to the high school to stuff the bus," Mr. Bisogno said.
Folks can stop by anytime during the three-hour food drive and drop-off any number of items. If someone can't make it to the school on March 26, they can drop off bags of items at the school's main office on regular school days.
"This is a wonderful community service activity for our student leaders," Superintendent John J. Finello said. "It's refreshing to see teenagers taking such an interest in helping those in need."
