HARTE Recognizes Krista Castillo
with Scholarship
The Huntington Association of Retired Teachers and Employees has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Huntington High School senior Krista Castillo, who is headed to Nassau Community College in the fall.
"HARTE is proud; no not proud – very proud, to present this award to a very deserving senior," retired teacher Eileen Darwin said at this month's senior academic awards night in the high school auditorium.
HARTE has presented an annual scholarship to a graduating senior for many years. The award is supported by dues from the organization's members. Ms. Castillo plans to study nursing in college.
Mrs. Darwin said that Ms. Castillo is "truly a leader among her classmates," adding that HARTE "takes great pleasure in presenting this $1,000 award to Krista Castillo," Mrs. Darwin said. "Congratulations!"
