End-of-Year Carnival at HHS on June 8
The Huntington High School student government will host an end-of-the-year carnival on Wednesday, June 8 from 3-6 p.m. on the athletic fields. There will be a huge kickball game, popcorn, cotton candy, a dunk tank and assorted booths with additional activities.
"Every club in the school has been invited to host a booth, providing additional activities," G.O. President Alexandra Kiley said. The art honor society has already signed on to offer temporary fun tattoos while the Class of 2011 will host carnival games at its booth. The band will be selling pizza and hot dogs.
Proceeds from the carnival will be split between the Robert Potter Scholarship Fund and US Marine 1st Lieutenant James Byler, a 2003 Huntington High School graduate who lost his legs and a finger on both hands in a bomb blast while on patrol with his unit last fall in Afghanistan. Mr. Potter was a much-beloved Huntington High School art teacher who passed away suddenly last November.
"This event should be a fun way to end the year and raise money for some very worthy causes," Ms. Kiley said. Organizers are hoping for a large turnout of students and teachers. Admission to the carnival and kickball game is free, but organizers hope to generate funds through some of the booths and assorted events during the three-hour carnival.
This marks the first time Huntington's student government will be running the carnival and the organization is busy ironing out details for what promises to be a fun time for all.
