A Tradition of Excellence since 1657

Kramer Wins Kellogg Theatre Award

Jonah Kramer shined on the Huntington High School stage over the past four years as one of the top actors in the school's drama club program. The teenager earned the coveted John F. Kellog Award in recognition of his outstanding acting talent and efforts.

Mr. Kramer is headed to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in the fall. Drama club faculty advisor Michael Schwendemann presented the Kellog Award to the senior, who was president and dance captain of the drama club and secretary/section leader of the chamber choir.

Mr. Schwendemann stayed true to his tradition of announcing the award honoree during a statement shrouded in hidden meanings contained within personalized bits and pieces taken from the many drama club productions that Mr. Kramer participated in. The string of sentences went over the heads of most of those in the audience, but not the student actors who formed the backbone of the plays and musicals that brought the high school stage to life.

When it came time for Mr. Schwendemann to present the Kellog Award, here's what he had to say about Mr. Kramer:

"Hey there, you with the stars in your eyes" – after eight shows together I'm sure this student would liked to have taken Arsenic, even so, we are as comfortable with each other as Old Lace. I feel as though I've known you since you were a "Child" – we've spent so much time together it's as if you are "the boy next door." If you keep a "stiff upper lip" and just "walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart" I know in the future I'll find you at the "Stage Door" which is "nice work if you can get it and you can get it if you try." Jonah Kramer I'm "Crazy for You."
