Trustees Adopt School Calendar
for 2011/12

The Huntington School Board has adopted a proposed district calendar for the 2011/12 school year. Classes will kick-off on Wednesday, September 7 and finish on Friday, June 22, 2011.

Teachers and staff will report to their buildings for meetings on Tuesday, September 6, with students reporting the following day. There will be 180 days of instruction with two other days set aside for faculty conferences. Two contingency days are also built into the plan to address possible school closings due to snow or other emergencies.

Consistent with the adopted calendar, schools will be closed on Sept. 29-30 (Rosh Hashanah), Oct. 10 (Columbus Day), Nov. 8 (Election Day/Supt. Conference Day), Nov. 11 (Veterans Day), Nov. 23-25 (Thanksgiving recess), Dec. 23-Jan. 2 (Winter recess), Jan. 16 (Martin Luther King Day), Feb. 20-24 (Mid-Winter recess), April 4-10 (Spring recess) and May 25-28 (Memorial Day weekend). There are no days off in March or June.

If a school closing forces the use of a contingency day, schools will be open on April 10. If a second contingency day is needed, schools will also be open on May 25.
