Booster Club Seeks
Energetic Core Members

The Huntington Booster Club has been on a roll for several years. The group has raised more than $120,000, developed a summer camp program, presented sportsmanship scholarships, instituted a grant program that's utilized by coaches for items not covered in the regular budget and offered food and refreshments for sale at athletic events.

"The Booster Club has been a very positive force in the district," Superintendent John J. Finello said. "The organization's officers are extremely hard working and committed to our athletes and coaches. They are good people who have been more than generous with their time and efforts."

Like most such organizations, the Huntington Booster Club relies upon a small core group to do most of its important work. As the sons and daughters of members of that core group graduate, the organization needs to fill their vacant positions with equally energetic and enthusiastic replacements.

"It's a very welcoming group of men and woman," Mr. Finello said. "Getting involved is a way for community members to support our athletic program and student-athletes. It's very rewarding work."

Some Huntington parents devote free time to the various PTA organizations while others get involved with the Band Parents Assn. or the Huntington Foundation. Like these groups, the Huntington Booster Club needs volunteers who want to roll up their sleeves and work hard.

Booster Club members have also been active organizing an annual fall golf outing and dinner at Crab Meadow and a March Madness reception each spring in Huntington Village.
