Participation Report
Participation in the athletic program this winter at Huntington High School totals 256 students, according to a report compiled by Director of Athletics Georgia D. McCarthy.
The student-athletes are split among 11 teams. The varsity and junior varsity wrestling teams have a combined roster of 42. The girls' winter track squad numbers 40 while the boys' winter track team consists of 33 athletes. The varsity girls' fencing team has 33 members.
The varsity boys' fencing team consists of 27 students. The varsity boys' swimming team has a roster of 25. The varsity and JV boys' basketball teams each have 16 members, respectively. The varsity girls' basketball team has a roster of 14 while the JV girls' basketball team has 10 members.
The high school winter season participants include 159 boys and 97 girls.
Mrs. McCarthy said there are 59 students participating on three "Winter Season I" teams at J. Taylor Finley Middle School. There are 25 athletes on the girls' volleyball squad, 18 students on the eighth grade boys' basketball team and 16 athletes on the seventh grade boys' basketball team.
