Reilly Drops 16 Points for Blue Devils

The Huntington boys' basketball team picked up its first win of the season last Friday night, topping Sachem North in a non-league contest, 56-42. Junior Patrick Reilly scored 16 points to lead the Blue Devils.

Huntington, which featured a much more aggressive style than in its first game, took an 18-14 first quarter lead and was ahead 29-22 at halftime. There was no second half let-up as the Blue Devils outscored their opponents, 27-20 to coast to a 14-point victory.

Senior John McCarthy turned in a strong performance with eight points, five blocked shots and eight rebounds. Senior Jack Forster chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds. Junior Kiernan McGovern and sophomore Trevor Bryant scored eight points apiece, respectively.

With Huntington Superintendent James W. Polansky in the crowd, Huntington won its first game under new head coach Brian Carey. Seven Blue Devil players scored in the game.

Blue Devil Free Throws: Sophomore David Casey scored four points in the game . . . Junior Connor Birchard pumped in another three points . . . Reilly hit three shots from downtown . . . Huntington picked up ten points at the foul line . . . McGovern also dropped in a three-point basket.
