Huntington Hires Two English Teachers
Huntington School Board members approved probationary English teaching appointments for Lauren Amendola and Dianna Molenko.
Ms. Amendola will work at J. Taylor Finley Junior High School, replacing Charles T. Williams who retired last June. Ms. Molenko is being assigned to Huntington High School where she will take over from Roy Dumar who moved and took a teaching job upstate.
District officials reviewed 125 applications, pre-screened 35 candidates and conducted ten interviews.
Lauren Amendola earned a BA degree in English education at Siena College in May 2009. She is currently pursuing a master's degree at Adelphi University.
Ms. Amendola was a leave replacement teacher last spring at J. Taylor Finley Middle School. She has also worked as a special education and English tutor at Riverside High School, part-time English teacher in Mineola and leave replacement teacher and eighth grade literacy teaching assistant in Bethpage.
Ms. Amendola's probationary period will run through April 14, 2012.
Dianna Molenko obtained BA degree in English at Adelphi University in January 2010 and an MA in secondary education at Adelphi in January 2011.
Ms. Molenko was employed in Long Beach as a ninth grade leave replacement English teacher from February-June 2011.
Ms. Molenko's probationary period will run through September 1, 2014.
