Blue Devil Lax Teams Win
The Huntington boys' lacrosse team battled past visiting Weston, Connecticut last Saturday, 9-5. The Blue Devils led 5-3 at halftime and held on for the victory to raise their overall record this spring to 6-2.
Huntington was led by Jim Roselle's four goals. Jack Cutrone had two goals and one assist. Jack Castelli and Tyre Brown each tallied one goal and one assist. P.J. Beach also scored a goal and Dan Plant added three assists. John McGrath made seven saves in goal.
The Blue Devils had no trouble firing off shots. Weston goalie Alex Peyreigne kept his team in the game by making 19 saves.
A few days earlier Huntington was all business as it methodically built an insurmountable lead and steamed past Miller Place, 11-3. The Blue Devils took a 7-1 lead into halftime and continued to play tough defense in the second half.
Nick Saputo, Jack Castelli and Jim Roselle each scored two goals. Pat O'Brien, Dan Plant, Tyre Brown and Will Coffey and P.J. Beach also put the ball in the net. Saputo, Brown and Jack Cutrone added assists.
Huntington's Adelphi University-bound goalie John McGrath recorded seven saves. T.J. Greenhill relieved McGrath in goal and stopped two shots.
The victory gave Huntington a 4-2 mark in Suffolk Division II play. Miller Place entered the game with a 4-0 record in league games and was 5-1 overall this spring.

Emma Hayes-Hurley scored four goals and added three assists to help lift the Huntington High School girls' lacrosse team over Harborfields, 9-8. The Blue Devils' eighth grade goalie Anna Tesoriero played one of her best games ever, stopping 15 shots.
It was the biggest win of the season for Huntington. The Tornadoes entered the contest with a 5-1 league mark, 7-1 overall, but Huntington went right at them, building a 4-3 lead by halftime. Harborfields then struck back and took an 8-7 lead into the final three minutes of the game.
As the Blue Devils (5-3) stepped up their pace, sophomore Katie Healy scored to knot the score at 8-8. It appeared as if the two teams were headed to overtime when sophomore Alexis Thompson scored the game-winner off an assist from senior Sarah Ehrman.
Alyssa Amorison scored two goals, Ehrman had a goal and two assists and Emilie Pugliese tallied three assists. Hannah Burnett also picked up an assist.
