Blue Devils Look for Consistency

The Huntington boys' lacrosse team is searching for consistency in early season play. The Blue Devils split a pair of games last week, topping Islip but falling to Comsewogue.

Huntington trailed Islip after one quarter, 4-1. The Blue Devils exploded for six goals in the second frame to take a 7-5 lead into halftime. It was an advantage the team never surrendered en route to a 10-7 victory in a Suffolk Division II match-up.

Senior Nick Saputo notched a hat trick to lead Huntington. Junior Jack Cutrone and senior Will Coffey each tallied two goals and one assist. Seniors Calvin Bollar and Jack Castelli and junior Dan Plant also scored in the game.

Senior John McGrath had no time to rest as the senior stopped 16 shots to preserve the victory, much to the delight of the 250 Blue Devil fans that turned out to watch the game

A few days later, Huntington against fell behind early against Comsewogue, trailing 4-2 after one quarter and 6-3 at halftime. The Blue Devils played "catch-up" the rest of the way, before falling, 9-6

McGrath was solid again in goal with 13 saves. Plant and Saputo each scored two goals. Castelli also scored, as did senior Jim Roselle. Coffey and junior Tyre Brown chipped in with assists.
