Hayes-Hurley Puts on Show

Senior Emma Hayes-Hurley put on a show for the crowd on a cold damp day, scoring four goals and adding an assist as the Huntington girls' lacrosse team topped John H. Glenn, 15-4 in the Suffolk Division II opener.

The Blue Devils opened a gaping 7-1 by halftime and then went on to outscore the Knights in the second half, 8-3. Huntington midfield and defensive play was stellar its offense was tough to stop.

Hannah Burnett and Alexis Thompson each had three goals and two assists and Sarah Ehrman put the ball in the net three times. Emilie Pugliese joined the fun with a goal and two assists. Alyssa Amorison had a goal and an assist. Blue Devil goalie Anna Tesoriero stopped nine shots.

How couldn't Huntington head coach Nancy Wilson be happy with her team firing on all cylinders so early in the season? The small crowd, which was essentially huddled in the center of the bleachers, voiced its noisy approval after each goal.

Is this a sign of good things to come? Fans will know soon enough.
