Huntington School Briefs

Huntington High School's Meet-the-Teacher Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 23 at 7 p.m. All parents of high school students are invited to attend. Parents of high school ESL students will meet on the same night thirty minutes earlier at 6:30 p.m.

The evening will provide parents with an opportunity to meet teachers and learn more about school policies, course curriculum, educational resources and teacher philosophies.

Next School Board Meeting

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Huntington School Board is set for Monday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jack Abrams School auditorium on Lowndes Avenue in Huntington Station. The public is invited to attend.

Youth Court Agreement

The Huntington School District has agreed to continue participating in the Town of Huntington's youth court program through August 2011. Cases are referred to the court through the Suffolk Probation Dept. The students who volunteer to staff the court receive six to ten weeks of training from attorneys, social workers and probation officers, learning about basic principles of criminal procedure and law, sentencing considerations and options related areas.
