Huntington School Board Notes
Huntington School Board members approved numerous budget transfers at their meeting on November 15. The transfers, from one budget code to another, covered costs associated with a mandatory State Education Dept. conference in Albany ($1,000), supplies ($3,000), computer related supplies ($1,126.80), the replacement of a distance measurement device on a new leased vehicle ($300) and the purchase of Tesoros third grade student textbooks that were lost at Southdown School ($400).
Trustees also authorized the addition of Susan Murray, Andrew Sheltz, Kristin Lim, Brigita Perez, Lucy Ciminera, Maureen Lynch and Dana Francis to the district's 2010/11 list of substitute teachers. They will be paid $90 per diem when they work.
Trustees also took the following actions:
• Approved a special education services contract with the Andersen Center for Autism in Staatsburg, New York.
• Authorized the disposal of numerous pieces of obsolete or broken computer equipment, televisions, VHS machines, projectors, appliances, etc. The items will be placed on the district's surplus bid list.
• Approved a consultant services contract with Heather Thorgersen to provide SEARCH program workshops at the primary and intermediate grade levels. She will be paid $75 per session for the intermediate workshops and $50 per session at the primary level.
• Approved a special education services contract with the Half Hollow Hills School District for the education of Huntington School District residents attending classes there.
• Accepted the donation of a Remo percussion plus drum kit valued at $250 to the elementary music program from Diana Priolo.
• Authorized the following employees to receive reimbursement for district related travel between buildings: Tara Adams, Josephine Llorente, Amanda Marino, Diana Marlow and Anthony Pomponio.
• Approved the addition of the Rising Stars basketball organization to the district's list of approved facilities users.
• Approved a consultant services agreement with Bernice Sims who will be paid $200 for a presentation and lecture for students about the Civil Rights Movement.
• Approved a memorandum of agreement with the district's clerical bargaining unit.
• Approved a consultant services contract with South Shore Center for Speech, Language and Swallowing Disorders, LLP for bilingual speech evaluations and attendance at CSE meetings.
