Search is on for New Superintendent
The Huntington School Board has begun its search for a new superintendent, enlisting the aid of Western Suffolk BOCES in the search process. Superintendent John J. Finello is expected to retire at the end of the school year.
The search will be led by Western Suffolk BOCES Deputy Superintendent Dr. Michael J. Mensch and Executive Director Paula Klingelhoefer. The pair provided an informational presentation at this past Monday night's Huntington School Board meeting, detailing the search process and timeline.
Community and staff members are being asked for their input through an online survey that includes rating the importance of a potential candidate's qualifications, personal characteristics and his/her abilities and experience with school staffing, instruction, board relations, district operations, and finance.
The survey can be accessed at www.surveymonkey.com/s/huntingtoncommunity. Printed copies of the survey can be obtained at the district office (50 Tower Street, Huntington Station) and the Huntington Public Library. All responses are due by December 31, 2010.
The Huntington School Board will consider the results of the community survey during the selection process for the new superintendent.
