HARTE Scholarship Goes to
Dayna Reyes

The Huntington Association of Retired Teachers and Employees has awarded a $1,200 scholarship to Huntington High School senior Dayna Reyes, who is headed to the University of Arizona in the fall.
“HARTE is proud; no not proud – very proud, to present this award to a very deserving senior,” retired teacher Eileen Darwin said at last week’s senior academic awards night in the high school auditorium.
“This young person is an extremely capable, hard-working student, taking academics very seriously, a quick learner, immersed in the culture of the Huntington High School community; a team player and a thespian who is very involved in the dramatics club, stage crew and acting,” Mrs. Darwin said.
A National Hispanic Scholar, Ms. Reyes has been president of the high school choir and contributed hours upon hours to the Blue Devil marching band during her freshman and sophomore years and to the color guard as a junior and senior. “Her peer leadership is impeccable,” Mrs. Darwin said. “This student brings a quality of excellence to everything she becomes part of.”
HARTE has presented an annual scholarship to a graduating senior for many years. The award is supported by dues from the organization’s members. This year’s scholarship was presented at last week’s senior academic awards night in the high school auditorium.
Mrs. Darwin said that Ms. Reyes is “truly a leader among her classmates,” adding that HARTE “takes great pleasure in presenting this $1,200 award to Dayna Reyes,” Mrs. Darwin said. “Congratulations!”
