Abt Named to All-Big East Lax Team

Over the years there have been few Huntington High School athletes as accomplished and well-liked as Kailene Abt, who starred on the Blue Devil soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams. Three years ago she brought her star to Notre Dame where it has been shining bright to the delight of coaches and fans there.

Abt just turned in another great season for the Fighting Irish women’s lacrosse squad, which finished with an 11-7 mark and was ranked as high as 14th in NCAA Division I.

The Huntington grad earned second team All-Big East honors after scoring 29 goals, tallying 10 assists, picking up 23 ground balls, winning 29 draw controls, causing 19 turnovers and taking 73 shots, including 57 on goal. She started every game at midfield for Notre Dame.

Over the first three years of her college career, the 5’11 Abt has 82 goals and 21 assists. She is among the top ten goal scorers all-time for Notre Dame. In a season ending 19-7 NCAA playoff loss to five-time defending national champion Northwestern University, Abt notched a goal.

The three-time Fighting Irish varsity letter winner will be looking to close out her collegiate career next spring with a flourish.
