Fourth Graders Enjoy a
Day in the Sun

Jack Abrams School fourth graders spent one of June’s glorious days of sunshine at Centerport Beach for an end-of-the-year celebration. The students will attend Woodhull School as fifth graders following the Huntington School District’s intermediate grade level reorganization.
The all-day beach party included games, food, fun and friends. The youngsters built sand castles, played volleyball and Frisbee, participated in a water-balloon toss, with more than a few getting drenched and just enjoyed the day with classmates.
The party culminated a year of hard work, studying and test-taking for the students and they used the occasion to “cut loose” and have a ball. Principal Mary Stokkers even drove over to join in the activities.
Teachers said the perfect weather and the spectacular setting added to the memorable day. “It was a day to celebrate friends, summer good-byes and new beginnings,” said Deborah Chin, a fourth grade PTA volunteer.
