Harvard Club to Conduct Interviews
at Huntington
The Harvard Club of Long Island is planning on using classrooms at Huntington High School to conduct interviews of students interested in attending Harvard College. The sessions will be held on Saturdays, January 8 and January 15. A similar session was held last winter.
"During the session [last year], Harvard alumni interviewed Harvard applicants from a variety of Suffolk County high schools, including Huntington," said Richard Oehmler, co-chairman of the Harvard Schools Committee of Long Island.
"As the college admissions process becomes more and more competitive, it is necessary that we look into ways to increase our college acceptances into highly competitive schools," said Kitty R. Klein, district director of guidance and testing. "Hence, on-site interviews are one of those ways in which students can establish personal connections with college alumni and representatives, which may help to distinguish one student application from another."
The interviewers will be on-site between 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. and will utilize 10-12 classrooms. "In all, we would expect 20 to 25 interviews to be conducted at each session.
Huntington students and their parents can contact Ms. Klein (kklein@hufsd.edu) for more information.
