Huntington School Board Notes
Huntington School Board members have accepted the resignation of Washington Primary School dual language teacher Maria Romero. Trustees granted a child care related leave of absence to Washington special education teacher Jennifer Stucchio (September 1 – January 28, 2011) and approved the retirement of Southdown Primary School special education teacher aide Lynne Aloe.
Trustees approved probationary teaching appointments for Matthew Perlongo (Finley, math), Karen Melara (Jefferson, dual language), Jennifer Glatzer (district-wide, ESL) and Josephine Llorente (elementary, music). Melissa Goldsborough was approved to work as a long-term substitute teacher at Washington School where she will fill in for Mrs. Stucchio.
Trustees also took the following actions at their meeting on August 23:
- Appointed Huntington High School students Alexandra Martinolich, Lauren Boyce and Danielle Cochrane as part-time lab assistants. They will be paid $7.25 per hour.
- Appointed Carmela Cipriano as a part-time food service worker. She will work 20 hours per week at J. Taylor Finley Middle School.
- Adjusted the probationary period of newly appointed family and consumer science teacher Jaclyn Ambrosio. The period will run from Sept. 1 to September 1, 2013.
- Approved the recall of several faculty and staff members from the district's preferred eligibility list, including ESL teacher Jennifer Glatzer and special education teacher aides Doreatha Bailey, Annie Bastien, Karen Beirne, Yvonne Dacosta, Alison Moller, Andrea Myssiorek and Christopher Obi.
- Approved changes in assignment for teacher aides Anne Johnson and Junette Gunter. They will go from working three hours per day to 6.5 hours.
- Approved a proposal for continuing architectural and engineering services related to a district-wide spatial needs analysis with BBS (Burton Behrendt Smith).
- Authorized the disposal of a surplus Samsung television located in the district office.
