Don't Miss the Band Home Show
Anyone who has heard the sounds of a marching band up close knows how memorable that experience can be. Multiple that by 12 this Sunday as Huntington High School's Band Parent Association hosts a home show for some of the best bands in the metropolitan area.
Beginning at 12 noon and running until 4 p.m., the home show will feature performances by bands and their color guards from Deer Park, Manhasset, Hicksville, Islip, Division Avenue, Lindenhurst, Floral Park, Garden City, Brentwood, Copiague and Port Chester. The bands battle each other in a scored competition with handsome trophies going to the top finishers.
Since it is hosting the competition, the Blue Devil band is prohibited from competing, but it will present an exhibition performance near the end of the show. The bleachers and area around Blue Devil Stadium is expected to be packed. Last year's show drew a crowd of several thousand.
