Huntington’s 148th Commencement Exercises this Friday at 6 p.m.

An honor guard will lead Huntington High School’s Class of 2009 into Blue Devil Stadium at 6 p.m. this Friday night for the school’s 148th commencement exercises.  A crowd of more than 2,000 is expected to attend.

The ceremony will include traditional addresses by valedictorian Chris Lau and salutatorian Dylan Payne along with Principal Carmela Leonardi, Superintendent John J. Finello and Huntington School Board President Bill Dwyer.

An orchestra consisting of underclassmen under the direction of teacher Lisa Leonardi will perform processional and recessional selections.  Senior Vernon O’Garra will serve as master of ceremonies. Senior Grace Bernard will formally present the senior class gift to Dr. Leonardi.

Teachers Erik Bruckbauer and Camille Tedeschi will announce the names of each senior as School Board members present diplomas.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will move indoors to the cavernous high school auditorium.
