Popular Huntington Grad Dan Guido Mourned
Dan Guido, a popular member of Huntington High School’s Class of 2001, passed away suddenly two weeks ago. He was 25 years old and a member of the New York Police Department stationed in the 28th precinct in Harlem.
Mr. Guido is survived by his parents, Guy and Linda, sisters, Denise and Kristen and brother, Peter. His mother, who is a teacher aide at Huntington High School and an officer with the school’s alumni association, served for many years on the Huntington School Board and his father was president of the Blue Devil booster club.
Daniel John Guido earned a number of honors as a Huntington senior, including the T. Christopher Pettit Award and scholarships presented by the Huntington Alumni Association and the Parent-Teacher-Student Association.
Throngs attended a wake at M.A. Connell Funeral home, funeral at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church in Centerport and graveside service at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Huntington for Mr. Guido. More than five dozen entries have been made in an online tribute book hosted by Legacy.com.
“Dan was a loving, wonderful, sweet young man,” wrote Margaret Ackerman, a former school board member who served with Mrs. Guido. “Dan will be missed forever by family and friends.”
“I have such good memories of Danny as a kid running around the Bay Club,” wrote fellow Huntington alum Scott Gainey. “He had such a great smile. I had the pleasure of bumping into Danny not too long ago and feel extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to see him once again. The world will miss his spirit.”
“Danny was the happiest person that I’ve ever known,” former classmate Sharif Hasan wrote. “No matter what the situation was, he would always find a way to cheer me up and others as well.”
