Huntington Athletic Department Praises Outback’s Generosity

The 41st senior athletic awards banquet at Huntington High School, which honored 108 graduating senior athletes, featured a touch of Australia, thanks to the Outback Steakhouse located in the Big H Shopping Center. Outback helped underwrite the evening, donating its time and services in feeding a crowd of more than 200 attendees.

Huntington District Director of Athletics Georgia McCarthy thanked local Outback proprietor Erika Haun and her staff.  The group cooked the food on site and served the large crowd a meal consisting of steak, chicken, potatoes, salad, bread and refreshments, along with coffee and ice cream for dessert.

“We really appreciate Outback’s continued interest and support of our schools and students,” said Mrs. McCarthy.  “We certainly enjoy having Outback so close to our school and community where many of our coaches and family meet for dinner and conversation.”

Cooking food on grills right outside Louis D. Giani Gymnasium served to produce a delectable aroma throughout the area.  Following the banquet, many coaches headed over to Outback to continue the festive evening.

“Outback is always there for the Blue Devil athletics,” Mrs. McCarthy said.  Some teams hold their end-of-season parties at the restaurant.
