School Trustees Appoint Two Long-Term Substitute Teachers
Two long-term substitute teachers have been appointed by Huntington School Board members. Kathleen Francom will teach music at Jack Abrams Intermediate School and Joyce Breisacher will work as a special education teacher at Huntington High School.
Ms. Francom, who is filling in for Nicole Lynch after she was granted a child care leave of absence for the 2008/09 school year, graduated in May 2001 from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in music education.
She has worked as a substitute and part-time leave replacement music teacher in Cache County, Utah from January – June 2000 and as a band teacher at Weber High School in Ogden, Utah from August 2001 to June 2002. District officials reviewed 25 resumes and conducted six interviews before recommending Ms. Francom for appointment.
Ms. Breisacher was hired to work through December 19 at the high school. She earned her undergraduate degree at St. Joseph’s College in June 2004 in English education and went on to obtain a master’s at C.W. Post College in August 2005 in literacy/special education. She obtained ESL certification at St. John’s University in December 2007.
Prior to coming to Huntington, Ms. Breisacher worked in Center Moriches and in an Eastern Suffolk BOCES summer program. District officials reviewed 70 applications and interviewed 12 candidates for the position before recommending Ms. Breisacher for appointment.
