Blue Devil Fall Athletic Season Approaches

With the fall athletic season close to kicking off at Huntington High School, players are being reminded that they need to have a current physical exam on file in the nurse’s office.  The requirement can be met either through the services of a private physician or through the school doctor.  School physicals were offered in late June.

Blue Devil football players and students at J. Taylor Finley Middle School will each have another opportunity to receive a physical exam from the school doctor.  Football physicals will be offered on Tuesday, August 26 from 8 – 10 a.m. at Huntington High School.  Physicals for J. Taylor Finley Middle School athletes will be offered on Tuesday, September 2 from 8 – 10 a.m. in the Finley nurse’s office.

All student-athletes must also complete a health screening form, whether they receive a school or private physical.  A full listing of physical dates and a health screening form are both available online for downloading by logging on to the school district website at www.hufsd.edu and clicking on the Athletics links and then Forms & Files.

Huntington High School students who have taken a physical still need to “re-qualify” with the school nurse prior to participating on a team.  Re-qualification for football players will be held on August 18 (7 – 10 a.m.) and August 19 (8 – 9 a.m.).

All other athletes can re-qualify on August 19 from 9 – 10 a.m.  Re-qualification for juniors and seniors will be offered on August 21 from 9 a.m. – 12 noon.  Freshmen and sophomores can re-qualify on August 22 from 9 a.m. – 12 noon.  All athletes can re-qualify on August 25 and August 26 between 10 a.m. – 12 noon.

Finley student-athletes can re-qualify with the school nurse on Monday, August 18 or Tuesday, August 19 between 9 – 11 a.m.  Re-qualification will also be held on both Wednesday, September 3 and Thursday, September 4 during lunch periods.
