The Huntington School District’s foray into the world of social media has been an unbridled success, attracting thousands of followers across multiple platforms. More people continue join the crowd every day.
Students, parents, faculty and staff and alumni have all signed on as followers for a variety of reasons; mainly to keep abreast of district events, announcements, happenings and accomplishments.
While the district’s website has long been a favorite of the school community, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and even YouTube pages were developed to accommodate those devoted to these popular communication tools.

The district established Facebook posting guidelines to prevent abuse. A copy of the guidelines can be found on Huntington’s Facebook page itself. Those posting items “will be held to a very high standard,” Superintendent James W. Polansky said.
While the district’s website continues to be the workhorse of Huntington’s effort to share news and important information, the district’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages have steadily increased in popularity, especially among those who routinely use their handheld devices to access the internet.
The district intends to continue maintaining and enhancing its website (www.hufsd.edu), which features the posting of new stories and photos on every school day. A redesigned website debuted late last summer. It’s state of the art and has been attracting significantly more visitors than in prior years.
